Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of the infection control course the learner should have:

  • A thorough understanding of the principles of infection control
  • The ability to recognise where infection might be a risk, and
  • Knowledge of how to apply infection control principles in the provision of care
Course Content

The infection control training has been designed around the National Infection Control guidelines and covers:

  • What infection is and how it is transmitted
  • Standard and additional precautions to prevent the transmission of infection
  • Infection control in the home care setting, and
  • Your responsibilities in relation to privacy
