Overview

This course teaches the fundamental principles of physical movement and manual handling, how manual handling injuries are caused, the Work Acts and procedures in place to help prevent injury, and how to safely perform manual handling tasks.

Learning Outcomes

The ‘Moving and Handling’ course will equip the learner with:

  • An awareness of the risks presented by manual handling tasks
  • A practical understanding of the ways these risks can be eliminated and reduced, and
  • Knowledge of the physical effects of manual handling
Course Content

The Moving and Handling course covers:

  • Relevent legislation for workplace manual handling
  • Roles and responsibilities regarding manual handling
  • How to perform a risk assessment, and
  • Other ways to eliminate or reduce the risk presented by manual handling
