Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of the fall prevention course, the learner should have:

  • An awareness of the different obstacles and problems facing residents
  • A knowledge of how falls affect residents and who is at risk
  • A practical understanding of the different techniques and practices used to safely eliminate and reduce the risk of falls, and
  • An understanding of the need to remain proactive and alert when working as a carer

  • Who is at risk of falling in care homes
  • The individual and environmental causes of falls
  • The physical, psychological and emotional effects of falls
  • The balance between the risk of falling and quality of life, and
  • The importance of the care plan and exercis
